Parents - Let Your Voices Be Heard!

Please Take the Core Survey

The District and the School use the Core Survey to help make improvements to your child's experience with LBUSD.

There are two ways to participate:

1.  Log into ParentVUE and click on "Parent CORE Survey";

2.  Click on this link and enter the access code, 8180554630.

When you submit the survey, your anonymous results will go directly to the district and we will use your opinions to help guide our future decisions.   You may complete one survey per student at our school, and each parent or guardian can complete one.  Let your voices be heard!

The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is a free program designed by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated to address the immediate needs of young ladies between the ages of 11-14 years old. Our 6th session was in the form of a S.T.E.M. Career Fair. This workshop took place on February 18, 2017. It was designed to provide the girls with career information in the following areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Thank you to the 10 young ladies that participated during this session!

Our 7th session, last meeting, is our end of the year event for the Academy Program! The information for this event is below:

When: Saturday, March 18, 2017

Time:   09:30am to 1:00pm (Free breakfast and lunch will be provided)
Location: Carmelitos Housing Development
Address: 851 Via Carmelitos, Long Beach, CA 90805 (Inside the Community Center)

Parents- We will have a ceremony acknowledging your daughter’s/daughters' commitment to our program this year. We would like to invite you to this ceremony. The ceremony will start at 12:00pm and end with lunch at 1:00pm. Lunch will be free of cost to you and your daughter(s).

8th grade parents can now go onto ParentVUE to see which schools and programs their child got into. On ParentVUE, Parents must choose one program that their child "Intends" on going to.  This will complete the process.

For more details, click on our "High School Choice" tab on the website.

If you have questions about how to do this, or if you need help, please contact the office, or stop by during school hours and Mrs. Becker or Mrs. Schmeer can help you.  Congratulations to all of our 8th graders on their High School Acceptances!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Last night, the Board of Education approved a resolution to communicate to all families and students that the Board supports them and will do everything in its power to protect them regardless of nationality, immigration status, religion or other factors.  A copy of the resolution and a letter from the Board is attached.

We welcome your input and participation with your child's schooling.  A few things to remember about communicating with your child's teacher and staff members:

- You can email anyone at anytime through School Loop or ParentVUE.  You may use the school computers to do this.  You may also email them in your native language, it can be translated for them at the school.

- If you would like to meet with an administrator or teacher, please call the school ahead of time to make an appointment.  In addition to teaching and running the school, our administrators and teachers attend trainings and are involved with other family meetings.  So, to be sure you will get their undivided attention, kindly schedule ahead of time.

Thank you so much for your involvement!
